The quality of life (QoL) assessment is nowadays crucial to the management of people who live with HIV (PLHIV). Data on PLHIV QoL living in Burkina Faso semi-urbans settings are however lacking. We assessed it at the Tenkodogo Regional Hospital through. We performed a cross-sectional study between June 1 2023 and January 31 2024. The QoL was measured using the Medical Outcome Study Short Form-12 (SF-12). A total of 334 PLHIV, including 251 (75.2%) women were recruited. The mean age was 49.7 years (standard deviation [SD] 11.9). The means scores of physical health and mental health were 53.2 (SD 8.62) and 48.1 (SD 6.99), respectively. Factors associated with physical health were age (p=0.003), monthly incomes (p=0.026) and adherence to antiretroviral treatment (ART) (p=0.036). Factors associated with mental health were adherence to ART (p<0.0001), monthly incomes (p=0.018), stigma (p<0.0001), financial support (p<0.0001) and moral support (p=0.015). Additional studies are needed for better understanding of QoL troubles in PLHIV. Moreover, Burkina Faso health decision-makers including HIV AIDS national plan, should urgently strengthen the capacities for screening and management.
