Abstract

Obtaining the seed for the production of Fabirama is tedious, due to the conditions of its conservation. The
general objective of our work is to help improve the productivity of Fabirama through the use of aerial stem
cuttings in Burkina Faso. And specifically aims to compare the yields obtained from the fabirama according
to the mode of reproduction and to identify the mode of reproduction which gave the best yield. The plant
material used is a collection of tuber seeds from the locality of Leo as well as cuttings from the germination
of seeds from the same locality. The experimental device was a completely randomized Fisher block with
3 repetitions. Each repetition counted six (06) lines including three (03) lines for multiplication by tubers
and three (03) lines for multiplication by cuttings, which gave a total of 18 ridges. The length of each line
was 7.2m with 0.5m interline and 0.6m inter-pocket. The yield obtained by the cuttings was practically
similar to that obtained by the seed of tubers according to the analysis of variance. But in view of the results
obtained, the cuttings gave the best results with a yield of 6.11t for the cuttings against 5.08t for the tubers
per hectare.
