Curvulariosis is one of the major fungal diseases of rice in Burkina Faso. This study aims to contribute to
the development of an effective control method against this infection. The experimental design was a
split-plot. The primary factor was fungicides with 3 modalities and the secondary factor was doses with 4
levels repeated 4 times. The plant and fungal material consisted respectively of rice variety FKR19 and
Curvularia lunata (BM) strain. The fungicides used were IDEFIX (copper hydroxide), MANGA-PLUS
(mancozeb) and TALO (chlorothalonil) applied as preventive and curative treatments. The results showed an incidence of 100% with low severity levels on fungicide treated plants compared to the untreated
control (severity= 8). TALO treatments recorded high average severity scores (2.66 and 6.63) compared
to IDEFIX (1.66 - 3) and MANGA-PLUS (1.33 - 2.66). IDEFIX and MANGA-PLUS were effective at
lower doses in both preventive and curative treatment. Through these results, mancozeb and copper
hydroxide can be considered as effective active ingredients for the control of rice curvulariosis in Burkina
Faso.
