Abstract

Cleome gynandra L., is a traditional leafy vegetable increasingly cultivated because of its socio-economic importance. However, the lack of mastery of the calendar and cultural practices constitute limits encountered in its cultivation in Burkina Faso. This study therefore aims to determine the effect of sowing date on the agromorphological performance of Cleome gynandra L. in Burkina Faso. Thus, the agronomic performances of 34 accessions were evaluated under two sowing dates staggered by 18 days. The device was of the incomplete Fisher block type block type with three repetitions and 20 variables, of which 16 quantitative and 4 qualitative were involved in the evaluation. The results showed that the performances vary significantly according to the accessions on the one hand and the sowing dates on the other hand. For some variables, positive interactions were observed between sowing dates and accessions. In general, the performance of accessions was higher in September than in August. The results obtained could undoubtedly contribute to the definition of a crop calendar for producers.
