Severe forms of dengue with organic damage can occur; hence the need for a biological assess- ment for their diagnosis and adequate management. Thus, our objective was to study the distur- bances of biochemical parameters during dengue fever. This was a retrospective study with a descriptive and analytical aim, focusing on the biochemical disturbances recorded in dengue patients from January 1, 2017 to December 31, 2018, at the Charles de Gaulle Pediatric University
Hospital. A total of 105 patients were included. The mean age was 4.77 ± 3.56 years and the sex ratio M/F was 1.33. All patients had a fever and 68.57% had an allergic syndrome. Thrombocytopenia was noted in 48.57% of patients. Biochemical disturbances were marked by elevated AST and creatinine levels in 73.07% and 13.13% of patients, respectively; but also by decreased sodium (23.16%) and bicarbonate (45.26%) levels. Several biochemical disturbances have been found, and could be related to the ability of the dengue virus to reach certain organs or to the plasma leakage syndrome frequently encountered in the evolution of dengue.
