Abstract

The study looked at the analysis of the knowledge, attitudes and practices of farmers compared to the use
of pesticides in ouagadougou. it was conducted in three districts of the five that make up the city. it was a
cross-sectional study with exploratory purpose. one hundred growers were selected randomly and interviewed
using a questionnaire administered by investigators. The results showed that pyrethroids were the
most used by farmers. Pesticides were stored in the fields or inside houses; they were sprayed mainly at
night, very often without adequate protection equipment. empty packagings were either buried in the ground
or thrown into the fields, often near sources of drinking water. Thus, farmers of ouagadougou phytosanitary
practices are bad and potentially harmful to the health of applicators, consumers and the environment.
