Complete recovery is an evolutionary option of the peripartum cardiomyopathy (PPCM). This evolutionary option is a challenge for cardiology services. The authors would like through this work to evaluate the care and the evolutionary state in 18 months after the hospitalization of the PPCM cases. A longitudinal cohort study was carried out from September 2013 to December 2014 including 27 women hospitalized in cardiology service for PPCM. Two evaluations of the evolution were conducted. The first evaluation was carried out during the hospitalization and the second in 18 months after the hospitalization. Twenty-two patients remained in Cardiology Intensive Care Unit. Diuretics and the Digitalis were prescribed in 100% of cases. No patient received the bromocriptine. The median duration of hospitalization was 14 days. Hospital mortality was 7,4%. Eleven patients (44%) were lost of follow-up after 18 months. Five patients i.e. 20% had died during the follow-up. Complete recovery was observed in 5 cases. The possibility of complete recovery should lead to another strategy of taking care of this pathology by the implementation of an adequate circuit of its care in cardiology services.
