Abstract

Objective: To evaluate the treatment of uterine prolapse vaginal hysterectomy using a simplified technique in the obstetrics and gynecology department of CHUYO.
Patients and methods: He acted in a prospective cohort study of 51 patients who underwent vaginal hysterectomy to treat uterine prolapse. Hysterectomy was performed in a simplified 10-time technique. It concerned the operated patients from 14 June 2012 to 31 March 2015 and which were reviewed one year after hysterectomy.
Results: The mean age of the patients in our series was 58.5 ± 9.6 years, ranging from 29 and 79 years. One year after the hysterectomy, the vaginal vault prolapse occurred in 3.9% of patients. The following symptoms were significantly improved by the hysterectomy: pain on urination (78.4% against 7.8% before after hysterectomy, p = 000), urinary frequency (60.8% against 13.7 prior after hysterectomy%, p = 000), dysuria (37.3% before and after hysterectomy 2%, p = 000). Urinary incontinence, infrequent at intake was not significantly corrected with surgery (7.8% against 2.0% before after hysterectomy, p = 0.362).
Hysterectomy has also led to improved digestive symptoms and sexual function.
Conclusion: Simple vaginal hysterectomy was satisfactory anatomical and functional results and deserves to be promoted in hospitals.
