Abstract

The authors report a case of abdominal pregnancy ruptured with 18 weeks of amenorrhoea diagnosed by ultrasound and confirmed by laparotomy, an entity that is rare nowadays but still quite common in developing countries, by default of early diagnosis. Ultrasound is the essential element of the diagnosis, it has
revealed an epiploic location of the placenta with a fetus without cardiac activity. A small deciduous intrauterine reaction and a hemoperitoneum of great abundance. The surgical procedure resulted in the removal of the placenta and the fetus; the postoperative follow-up was favorable.
