Management of Fournicr's gangrène at Sanou Souro University Hospital of Bobo-Dioulasso about 34 cases

We initiate this study to describe the treatment of Fournier's gangrene and his issue at Sanou Souro University Hospital of Bobo-Dioulasso in Burkina Faso.
This study was retrospective and has run from 1th April 1999 to 1th December 2006. Thirty seven cases representing 0,88 % of over-all hospitalizations during the period of study were diagnosed but 34 cases were included. Patients's mean age was 51,2 years (range: 3-89). Predisposing factors were identified in 17.6 % of the patients and etiology in 61,7 %. Treatment and his issue were analyzed.
All patients were managed multidisciplinary including surgery, antibiotics and reanimation. One patient has been admitted in intensive care room. The first necrotic excision was made in surgical room the following excisions were performed in hospitalization department. Ten urinary diversion were performed but none colostomy. In two cases a skin graft has been necessary to reconstitute scrotum. The mean hospital stay was 25.52 days. Mortality rate was 14.74 %.
Mortality rate was high. Prevention is a better strategy and early consultation allows a better issue of treatment.
