Le but de cette étude a été de mettre en évidence des difficultés de la pratique de la thérapie anti-retrovirale dans les conditions actuelles et d'en tirer les enseignements.

C'est une étude rétrospective de septembre 1998 à janvier 2000. Elle inclue des malades hospitalisés du service de pneumo-physiologie du Centre hospitalier national Yalgado Ouédraogo de Ouagadougou, ou référés par d'autres services extérieurs  à l'hôpital.

Le suivi de 34 malades dont 26 sous bithérapie et 8 sous trithérapie a révélé seulement  16 mois après son début,  12 cas d'interruption de traitement et 5 cas de décès.

Le premier contrôle du taux de CD4, seul critère d'appréciation de l'évolution biologique réalisable au Burkina Faso, chez 16 malades a révélé son accroissement de 350 % pour bithérapie et 700 % pour la trithérapie.

The aim of this study had been to bring to the fore the application of therapy anti-retroviral in the present conditions and to draw the tessos from it. It was a retrospective study from September 1998 to January 2000. It includes the patients of the pneumo-physiology services of the National Hospital « Yalgado Ouédraogo » of Ouagadougou or those referred to the hospital by some other services. The follow-up of 34 patients, 26 being under bitherapy and 8 under tritherapy showed only 16 months after its beginning, 12 cases of treatment interruption and 5 cases of desease. The first check of the CD4 rate, which is the only one possible criteria to appreciate the biological evolution in Burkina Faso of 16 patients has revealed a growth of 350 % for the bitherapy and 700 % for the trithepapy.
