Background and Objectives: Burkina Faso faces extremely concerning indicators in reproductive, maternal, neonatal, child, and adolescent health (RMNCAH). Despite the adoption of national strategies, including free healthcare, shortcomings and significant inequalities persist. This study aims to diagnose gaps in the availability and readiness of RMNCAH services in Burkina Faso and to propose evidence-based corrective measures.
Methods: A secondary analysis of data from the Harmonized Health Facility Assessment (HHFA) was carried out. It covered 2,756 health facilities across the country's 13 regions. The analysis focused on 143 indicators, stratified by region, setting, ownership type, and level. Corrective actions were defined through participatory workshops.
Results: No RMNCAH service achieves satisfactory readiness (≥90%) at the national level. Family planning is particularly lacking, with coverage below 25%. Two service provision profiles emerge: a majority (78.85%) of rural and public health facilities with generally acceptable scores, and a minority (21.15%) of urban and private structures with the lowest levels.
Conclusions: The action plan developed proposes a response that strengthens public-private partnerships, defines a minimum package of activities, and integrates services. By relying on robust data, it offers perspectives to contribute to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals in RMNCAH in Burkina Faso.
