Rift Valley Fever is a disease of increasing global importance, affecting humans and a wide range of animal species, including domestic livestock. However, these animals are important not only for meat production but also for dairy production and trade. The overall objective of this study was to determine the prevalence of Rift Valley Fever and associated factors in dairy farms in the peri-urban area of Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso. To do this, the virus-infected status of 184 cows was determined by a direct rapid test using the ID Rapid® Rift Valley Fever Antigen kit, and a prevalence of 15.2% IC95% [10.0; 20.4] was obtained. Cows with one abort and cows under 3 years old had the highest prevalence of 18.8% and 18.67%, respectively. Infection with the Rift Valley fever virus is present in the animal population of dairy farms in the peri-urban area of Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso. As this infection is a major zoonosis, adequate measures must be taken to better protect the population against this disease.
