Clinical research, a major step in therapeutic innovation is subject of intense international competition. CHU are selected to carry out clinical trials according to operational criteria. To understand the low participation of our hospitals in the execution of clinical trials and improve their attractiveness, we undertook to conduct an inventory study on the management of experimental drugs capacity by hospitals pharmacies in the university hospitals of Ouagadougou. The data for this descriptive cross-sectional study were collected in three major university hospitals from pharmacists and state pharmacy technicians working there. Our results show a good capacity in human resources to ensure the management of experimental drug. Unfortunately, not all university hospitals have a specific clinical trial unit. The organization and equipment of hospital pharmacies need to be improved to enable them to meet the requirements of good clinical practice, storage and dispensing of experimental drugs. An approach integrating the continuous training of pharmacy professionals on clinical research is essential to improve their practice. This will increase the capacity and competitiveness of our clinical research centers towards major sponsor laboratories.
