Characteristics of lymphoid hemopathies at the Center Hospitalier Universitaire Sourô Sanou

Abstract

This article describes the epidemiological, clinical and biological characteristics of lymphoid hemopathies at the CHU Sourô Sanou in Bobo-Dioulasso. This was a prospective study over a period of two years (2017- 2018). All patients hospitalized or seen in consultation for lymphoid hemopathies were included. The prevalence of these conditions was 67.4%, with an incidence of 32 new cases per year. Non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) accounted for 60.9% followed by chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) in 15.6%, multiple myeloma (MM) in 11%, acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) in 7.8% and Hodgkin lymphoma (HL) in 4.7%. The mean age was 43.6 ± 19.2 years with extremes of 15 and 75 years. The predominance was malewith 71.4%. Farmers were the most affected with 40.7%. The mode of admission was emergency hospitalization in 67.8%. The reason for admission was tumor syndrome in 79.6%. Lymphadenopathy accounted for 33.3% of clinical signs. Anemia was observed in 86.7% of patients, microcytic in 53.8%. Lymphoid hemopathies are frequent at the CHUSS. It is necessary to improve the technical platform for their effective management.
