Consommation d’alcool en milieu scolaire : Cas des lycéens de la Commune VI du District de Bamako

Alcohol use is increasing among students. The purpose of this study was to identify factors related to alcohol consumption among high school students in Bamako. A descriptive and analytical cross-sectional study was conducted from December 19, 2016 to January 19, 2017. A three-stage random survey was used. A questionnaire was administered to high school students on a voluntary basis. Data were captured and analyzed on SPSS 20. Pearson, Fisher and Yates chi2 tests were used with a 0.05 threshold. Among respondents, 9.3% drank alcohol Approximately 58.3% of high school students were female with an average age of 16.71 1.81 years. Among alcohol users, 18.4% had started between 17 and 19 years of age; 92.6% knew of its nuisance. Alcohol consumption was associated with: age 17 (p = 0.0418); male sex (p = 0.0329); class 12 (p = 0.0324); status - married (p = 0.0396), alcohol consumption in the environment (p = 0.0529) and have a positive appreciation of alcohol consumption (p = 0.0038). Identified factors will contribute to developing strategies to fight alcohol consumption in high schools in Bamako.
