Introduction: in Africa, the assessment of the level of patient satisfaction is almost always carried out with the general population admitted to hospital but rarely with elderly people on an outpatient basis. This category of the population is however very fragile like children, and therefore frequently found in outpatient departments. This study aims to assess the satisfaction of the elderly with the biomedical care received in outpatient at CHUSS in Bobo-Dioulasso.
Methods: This is a cross-sectional, quantitative study. The data was collected at the CHUSS from people aged 60 and above outpatient. Satisfaction was assessed with Erin's multi-attribute model adapted to the context of the elderly. The satisfaction
scores were calculated according to the parameters studied.
Results: A sample of 300 seniors was interviewed. Patients were recruited from the departments of medicine (189), surgery (93), obstetrics gynecology and reproductive medicine (18). The overall rate of positive responses was 80,63%, corresponding to
the "very satisfactory" index. The dimensions studied are: courtesy and comfort (86,55%), competence of agents (92,39%), promptness of services (57%), financial accessibility (46,18%), fairness in the treatment of patients (73,16%), responses to
patient expectations (69,51%). However, they expressed complaints concerning the fairness of treatment, the time required to get an appointment, and the waiting time for medical consultations.
Conclusion: It is necessary that the Health care teams take into account the specific context of the elderly to implement the appropriate strategies
