Johnny Chien Méchant, roman d’Emmanuel Dongala, se caractérise par une inflation onomastique. L’oeuvre est parsemée de noms de personnes (anthroponymie) et de lieux (toponymie) à forte valeur sémantique qui se lisent comme des « énoncés-fictions » autour desquels s’organisent les rapports entre les personnages, d’une part, et de l’autre, entre ces derniers et l’ensemble du récit. L’acte de nomination apparaît, ici, comme l’un des fils conducteurs de la narration, l’un des axes autour desquels se tisse la trame de l’oeuvre. Par l’usage des noms de personnage détonants et des noms de lieux référentiels
de la géographie des guerres à travers le monde, l’auteur dévoile sa philosophie du nom et son projet d’écriture sur les guerres civiles et la violence qui brûlent l’Afrique.

Johnny Chien Méchant, Emmanuel Dongala’s novel, is characterized by an onomastic inflation. The work is strewed with names (anthroponomy and toponymy) which has strong semantic value and which are bound as “statements-fictions” all around which are organized connections between the characters, on one hand, and on other, between these characters and the whole story. The act of appointment seems here as one of the vital leads of the story or one of the axes around which weaves the weft of the novel. Using amazing character’s names and repository place’s names of wars geography through the
world, the author reveals his philosophy about the name and his writing project about civil wars and violence in Africa.
